Hello friends and welcome back.  I'm a little late on this challenge, my apologies, life has gotten in the way of stamping the last few days.

So today I have combined 2 things.  I have been eying up the Easel Cards over on Splitcoast, and the challenge this week at Late Night Stampers is Masculine, so I combined them.  YEAH… because I looked at the November birthday calendar and I need 6 guy cards this month….. so guess what I am building all week?  If you need them too, visit often.

Lets get at it.

Using Soft Suede, Close To Cocoa and Creamy Caramel, I did the DIRECT TO PAPER TECHNIQUE on a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock.  That Means, starting with your lightest color, smear the ink directly from the ink pad to your paper.

IMG_1747
Turn the paper over and sponge the same colors on the other side.  This creates matching paper, just lighter.

You will see in the first picture, I black embossed the clock  from SENSE OF TIME STAMP SET on the dark side, then I did just the small clock at the bottom of the image on the light side, and the sprockets on the dark side.  I cut all of these out.

Full directions for the Easel Card can be found over at www.splitcoaststampers.com, just type the name in the search box on the left side.

This piece of cardstock is 8 x 4, Chocolate Chip scored at 2 and 4 and valley folded.  I then added

3-7/8 square of Really Rust

3-3/4 square – Autumn Meadows Designer paper.

On the small pierce,

1-7/8 x 3-7/8 of Really Rust

1-3/4 x 3-3/4 Autumn Meadows Designer Paper.

Then add adhesive to the front top 2 x 4 piece and attach a separate square of 4 x 4, Chocolate Chip.  This ends up being the top easel part.

To this piece, again add:

3-7/8 square of Really Rust

3-3/4 square – Autumn Meadows Designer Paper

IMG_1749
for the sentiment, I black embossed it on a piece of 1×3 of the designer paper

layered that to a 1-1/8 x 3-1/8 piece of Really Rust.

then, I took a piece of 1-1/4 x 4 Chocolate Chip, and put it backwards into my Curly Label Punch

like this.

That is how I got those cool outside edges on the piece.

IMG_1751
I cut out my embossed sprockets, then added a Jumbo Grommet to the large one.

IMG_1752
The grommets have spikes in the back, so if you use your MAT PAC with the soft foam on top, it makes it really easy to push them through your piece, then flip them over and push the spikes towards the center, with the butt end of your bone folder.  Do not use the pointed end that you score cardstock with, eventually the scraping of the metal will leave dents and edges on your bone folder and these will mark up your paper.

I added my small lighter circle to the front of my clock.

Attached the clock to the front of the card with dimensionals

Note, I also use the clock as a background stamp on the designer paper, for a little background noise.

I anchored the card with a couple of ink pads so it would stay flat.

covered the clock with Crystal Effects.  I made sure not to fill it all in.

I wanted it to look like pitted, uneven old glass.

and here is the finished card.

The pieces on the bottom front of the card, hold the top piece upright, but you can unhook it to lay flat to mail…..such a cool idea.  Don't know who came up with it, but I like it.

Ok, your turn.  Create a masculine Card and come and join the fun over at
