Hi, welcome back. Monday is Late Night Stampers Design team challenge and this week the challenge is:
Using current Stampin Up products show us your version
of a "vintage" project. Are you distressing paper, using old
photo's, or new photo's made to look old? Vintage colors? How about the
new Vintage inspired stamp Set? You are only limited by your imagination!
I'm all over this one, LOVE VINTAGE. So Here is what I did.
I started with the CHARMING, stamp set. This set was originally in the Holiday Mini but it is still available because of the delay in the Simply Adorned items.
Charming Stamp Set, item #116519, price $19.95
using Close to Cocoa and Soft Suede, I randomly stamped the flower image on a piece of Very Vanilla
I cut that into a tag 2-3/4 x 4, added a scrap of designer paper from Razzleberry Lemonade and stamped the flower image with Rich Razzleberry
My card base is Basic black, 4-1/4 x 5-1/2,
mat is Rich Razzleberry 4 x 5-1/4
top is Kraft 3-7/8 x 5-1/8, stamped images down left are in Basic Black, then I sponged the edges of the top and the tag with Soft Suede.
I decided to use a piece from my Hodgepodge Hardware, this is Styled Vanilla, it was a little bright, so I antiqued it with my Soft Suede reinker and a sponge dauber.
on another scrap of Very vanilla I stamped the tag design in Basic Black
the little flourish in Rich Razzleberry, stamped off once to make it lighter
the word is stamped in Soft Suede first, then in Basic Black, off set just a hair so it looked shadowed.
I punched this out with my Designer Label Punch as it fits right inside the metal tag.
I built a hole strengthener by punching a hole with my hand punch, then centering that inside my 3/4 inch circle punch – then I added it to the top of my tag.
on a scrap of that background paper I stamped, I also stamped the little butterfly in Rich Razzleberry, and punched that out with my 1/2 inch circle punch which makes the perfect size to "BUILD A Brad"
I also added a couple pieces of ribbon to my tag, along the bottom, a piece of 1/4 inch black grosgrain, through the hole in the top, 5/8 black satin and 1/4 inch gingham.
and here is where we started mucking with a little Science Project.
I filled the whole inside of the metal tag with Crystal Effects, then I sprinkled in, gold embossing powder, chunky essentials – black, and Fine Galaxy glitter – champagne.
I tied a piece of black embroidery cotton through a button from the LATTE selection, and stuck it right into this too. Remember, Crystal Effects is great glue!
Ok, so at this point, I set this all aside and went and made a whole new card - takes at least an hour to dry. I know your not going to believe me, and you're going to stick your finger in it to see if it's dry, that's ok, I have sent many a card with my finger print in the C.E. just my own personal touch – LOL!
here is the image of everything I added to the tags. Yep, I'm making two cards again as one is another birthday card.
and here is the finished card. I taped everything down, then tore the top left corner, added more ribbon across the bottom and mounted my tag with dimensionals.
Hope you like it, I know the person getting it will, and come on back tomorrow and see what else I did with this stamp set, a hint, I'm wearing it today!.
Don't forget, New blog candy this week too, so leave me a comment before you dash away.
thanks so much for stopping in and spending a few minutes stamping with me.

I too enjoy using crystal effects. This is a new technique that I have to try. Beautiful.

Hi Sandi,
One of my Stampin Up demo friends called me tonight, all excited because she had just discovered your blog and knew that I would love it too. Not just for the common love of stamping, but because of your corgis. I have two Pembrokes too … my girls are 9-1/2 and almost 11 … so they’re getting pretty old in dog years but they still have abundant energy and most people are shocked to find out they are as old as they are. You’ll have to check out our blog sometime. While your blog is mostly stamping, with occasional corgi updates, mine is mostly corgis, with an occasional stamping blog hop.
Wow this card is awesome, it does look vintage, great color combo
So gorgeous – just the stuff I love! Thanks for sharing.
great tip on strengthening the hole..Thanks
Love these beautiful tags, and can’t wait to see what you’re wearing!
nd with all the inking really took on as whole new depth Wonderful Card
This has not been one of my favorite sets, and have only made one card with it. Now, I am thinking, whoa Nellie. I need to think about this little set again and get over my negative thinking, your card is fantastic and I intend to somewhat copy the big idea!

Marsha

I love how vintage your card is! I don’t have this set yet, but I love all of its possibilities! What you did for your “science project” was really neat! Sounds like what I do in the kitchen … little of this, little of that, hope for the best…!! It worked! Looks great!
What great ideas. I am in the “vintage mode’ recently and this is one I want to try. Also, I have always struggled with how to incorporate ‘tags’ into my cards! You have given me a bunch of ideas now. Thanks so much! Blessings – Mary
Hi Sandi,
Looks like you had lots of fun! Cute card…
This card is beautiful for its unique characteristics. I find it unusual with its vintage design, and the tag upon the card… almost looks like two different cards. Thanks for the hole reinforcement tip, too.
very pretty! I love your blog! Please enter me for the blog candy!

Sandi, this is absolutely gorgeous! I am in awe! Thank you so much for sharing this.
As far as CE goes….I, too, have sent many a
card or gift off with my fingerprint in it, lol.
Oh, I am all over this one!! Love love love that vintage and oh you have just the knack!! This card is beautiful and I love all the stamping that went into it. You are SO creative, Sandi! What is it in the last photos that makes the background stamping on the tag look so shimmery gold. Did I miss seeing where you added something? I’d love to duplicate this, but don’t have this set…. YET!!! HA! We are so blessed to have you and all the creativity you share!
Marita
Great color combo and like your own created Designer Paper with the stamped background with Rich Razzleberry flowers stamped on top. Your adorned necklace is simply charming!
