Hi Stampers, welcome back. Today I'm playing with a new stamp set from the Summer Mini Catalog called THE OPEN SEA, combined with my Most Favorite Retiring Stamp set, SENSE OF TIME, page 127 of the catalog #113804.
I decided to make a Father's Day Easel card and I'm sure with all the embellishments, it will cost me $5.00 to mail it, but oh well right.
I Stamped the clock first, (without hands), in Crumb Cake, Then added the ship in Chocolate Chip. I'm using Soft Suede to distress the edges
I used a Q-Tip and the lid of my Not Quite Navy to add a little "water" – I have a big mess going on in the studio right now and I could't find my blender pen, tee hee….
Next I used another retiring stamp that I have used a lot with my "vintage" style cards, this is a big background stamp called SANDED, #109294 pg 142. It gives a nice "bent up" vintage feel, without actually bending up!…..I kind of laughed at this point, this now looks like a "dime"
I gold embossed some pieces to use as embellishments, here, I used the fine tip end of my Real Red Marker to color in part of the compass.
Distressed and layed it so it looked like this.
I added two layers of Early Espresso behind the ship, the second I pierced and added gold brads to give the whole thing the look of a "porthole"
My sentiment is from "WORD PLAY" page 147 I stamped one in Night of Navy and one in Cherry Cobbler, cut out and distressed the pieces I needed and layed it. Added an anchor, and some rope.
Card base is 5 x 5, score at 2.5" and 5", second front piece is 5 inches square, attach at the bottom,
Not quite Navy mat, 4-3/4" on both pieces
Designer paper – Nautical Expedition – 4-1/2" on both pieces. I used scraps of "First Edition" designer paper as well.

What an awesome card, Sandi! You are so, so, so creative! I love it. Too bad the clock is retiring. I’m glad I have it so one day I can recreate your gorgeous tutorial that you made last year.
AWESOME CARD!!! Love what you have done, especially the “porthole” look! (Sure wish one of those envelopes had my name on it…)
Wow, Sandi, what a beautiful work of art! Love all the details, and the card has come together beautifully.

Oooooh, I like this one. I love this stamp set as well–haven’t done a card in a few days and am inspired to copy this one. Thanks for a wonderful idea. Nina
Hi Sandi
I came here from Beth’s Sunflowers and Dragonflies, I have made a few easel cards but I especially love this beautiful one that you’ve made.
Sandi, you are so clever to use Sense of Time that way. Great easel card.
