Happy Monday, hope you had a great weekend.  We had company and went to a Portland Winter Hawks Hockey game.  It was awesome.  They tied it with 2 seconds left in the 3rd period and won the game in a shoot out…. doesn't get more exciting than that let me tell you.  It was also a benefit for the Humane Society and we raised over $5,000. for the kitties and Puppies —-yeah…….and came very close to adopting Jack a little girlfriend – that is still under discussion!  Don't you think Jack needs a girlfriend????

Today I have a card and gift box for you because the challenge this week over at Late Night Stampers is to share "GIFT GIVING IDEAS".

I'm going to start with the card.  Connie asked for some easier Christmas Cards so I'm going to work on that this week – just for you my dear.  The Stamp set is PATTERNED PINES FROM THE HOLIDAY MINI CATALOG

I'm also still playing with the Easel card.  This time I turned it sideways and back to a 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 card.  So, the piece for the base is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2, score at 4-1/4 and 6-3/8, valley fold the two score lines.

The front of the card is 4-1/4 x 5-1/2.  In Soft Suede.

The art piece is Very Vanilla cut at 2-3/4 x 3-3/4,

matted to a piece of Brushed Gold 3 x 4

I gold embossed the PATTERNED PINES on the Vanilla piece, then gold embossed the little corner stamp on the Soft Suede card.  I attached my pieces with snail adhesive and attached to the front flap of the card.

When you make an Easel Card, you need a pop up of some kind to hold it open.  So, I gold embossed the snowflake from the same stamp set and punch it out with the 1-3/4 inch round punch.

Then I used our Versa Mark Pen (yes we have one – page 190 #100901 $3.25).  So I just ink around the outside of my circle, cover with embossing powder, shake off the excess, and heat set…..a great fast way to make it look like another layer.  Don't you love the marker, man, you can emboss absolutely anywhere with this great little tool.

I decided to repeat the corner images on the base piece too – then I mounted my snowflake with dimensionals.

Next I decided to build a box.  The piece is 5-1/2 x 8- 1/2, score on the long side at 1, 3-1/2, 4-1/2 & 7,

Score on the short side at 1 and 4-1/2.

Fold all the score lines – Snip the tabs into the one inch marks

secure the box using STICKY STRIP TAPE

Attached 25 inches of ribbon, center of ribbon on spine of box.

I stamped and embossed the star image, sponged the edges and attached to front and back of the box.

Added some cut out embossed images, and the little box is ready to be filled with a special little something.

and here is the set.  These were very fast and fun to create.

Splitcoast stampers has a tutorial and Beate has created a video on how to make these boxes and they are both on the SPLITCOAST home page today.

Ok, now it's your turn, how about creating a gift holder of some kind and come on over to

Stampin Up Late Night Stampers and play along with us…. yah know you want to.
