Hi Stampers:
I have one of my most favorite quick tricks to share with you today. It's another masking technique, this time using the brayer.
and I used it to create this card, which went out to some very special Birthday Girls this month…..
I have a "not so secret" passion for anything Asian when it comes to card making, so this Stampin up set, KIMONO KIDS was on my list as soon as the new catalog came out last year. LOVE IT.
Now check out the background, I used the Easter Blossoms Stamp set for the cute apple blossom behind the lanterns.
And, here is a video to show you how I did this!
and here are pictures of a couple of other cards in the video
Kimono Kids Stamp Set, page 62, #117000 $21.95 (wood), #120498 $16.95 (clear)
Easter Blossoms Stamp set (pg 17 Occasions Mini) #121905 $25.95 (wood), #122057 $18.95 (clear)

Thank you for sharing this great technique and the beautiful cards. I know I’ll be using this.
Awesome technique, video and tips Sandi!! Love your little Kimono card. I think she is absolutely darling and you did a fantastic job on the coloring and cutting out of all the pieces!! Thanks for the incredible blog. I can hardly wait each day to see what you come up with!
Sandy,
I am so happy to see the Kimono kids stamp set being used so beautifully – a great card indeed. Love it as well as the technique. I will have to try it sometime……a great video, too.
my best,
Patti
Great tutorial Sandy, I usually forget to pick up that wonderful brayer. I think I’ll get it down and dust it off and put it to work! Your cards are lovely BTW!
So very cool method for brayering Sandi!! I guess you could use any shape punch out for the mask.. which would make cool background colors too.
Thanks so much!! Excellent video!! But you are so bad for my stamp budget!! Now I “need” to get the Kimono kids.. do thing they are so cute!!
Always love your videos!!! These cards are just wonderful…thanks for sharing another great Sandi tip!
Sandi…
Love the tutorial…great job!!! Thanks for sharing!!!
I love your videos! This was one of the only Asian sets I wasn’t going to buy, but I am NOW! I love the lanterns in the bough of blossoms. It reminds me of my childhood in Seattle which had a very Asian influence back in the early sixties. We used to hang Japanese lanterns in the trees in the backyard and it was so pretty. (Look what you did with one card, I’m sitting here grinning from ear to ear.) Thanks for making me feel young again!
Thanks Sandi for a great video. I haven’t used the brayer for this technique before – always sponged. Now I have another great use for my brayer.
Sandi, thanks again for another wonderful tutorial!! I have to say the your card featuring Kimono kids is by far the cutest one I’ve seen using that set! TFS!
Vicky
Great video, Sandi! Thanks so much for showing us how to do that quick background!!
