Hi Stampers welcome back and hope you had a great weekend. I spent the weekend working on some projects for an upcoming event, and found I had a variety of small pieces from the new designer paper FLORAL DISTRICT so I thought I would create a little card with it.

As you can see, I combined it with another favorite retiring stamp set, SIMPLY SOFT #122565 (w) #122567 (c) – which is a Hostess Set. I also used FRENCH FOLIAGE #120845 (w) #121166 (c )and the pretty butterfly is from the new stamp set Papaya Collage which you will be able to purchase starting June 1st. I colored a small part of the floral image with REGAL ROSE and LUCKY LIMEADE Stamp n write Markers, and then attached my strips of designer paper to the bottom. For the butterfly, I used the markers direct to rubber, coloring first with the Lucky Limeade, and then around the outside with Island Indigo

Tip: Always use your lighter color first, then you won't contaminate the light marker with the darker color. I stamped it on a scrap of Whisper White, cut it out and attached it to my card with glue.

HERE IS MY HOLIDAY SHARE information for you

It gets you a little working/playing supply of all the great new products in the Holiday Mini Catalog!

I know I'm supposed to be doing a 10 minute card today, but, I had a little creative fun making my hubby's anniversary card yesterday, so I wanted to share it with you.

I started with one of my all time favorite stamp sets, French Foliage, I can't tell you how excited I was when I saw it in the new catalog, playing with it for only 3 months in the mini, was just not long enough it just has too many beautiful elements to it.

I first sponged the leaves, stamped them, cut them out and sponged the edges

I distressed my layers, and sponged them with Island Indigo, then Soft Suede

Tore the corner off, and added a little piece of the designer paper I used on the bottom of the card, this one is from Mocha Morning Specialty, and it is flocked with Black Felt – nothing but the best for my guy, tee hee…

I laid the leaves face down in my versamark ink,

Covered them with clear embossing powder and heat set them to melt the powder

This sealed in all that beautiful color and added a nice texture to them

here are the 3 of them.

and here is the finished card. I had to borrow the sentiment from the FIELD FLOWERS stamp set page 120, and I embossed that with Black Embossing powder.

RECIPE:

Card base – Soft Suede 5-1/2 x 8-1/2, score and fold at 4-1/4
mat – Island Indigo, 4 x 5-1/4
card front – Confetti Cream, 3-7/8 x 5-1/8
Bottom DSP – Mocha Morning Specialty, 1-1/2 x 4
16 inches of 5/8 Satin Ribbon
2 x 5 piece of Very Vanilla to stamp the leaves on.
Ink pads, Lucky Limeade, Island Indigo and Soft Suede

Kindness Matters …….

Yes it does, and what a great stamp set this is too. Kindness Matters is another of our new stamp sets and can be found on page 121 of the Idea Book and catalog, and for this project, I combined it with a new embossing folder, DESIGNER FRAMES, and the Pillow Box Die, and if you look closely, you will see that I used the Fancy Fan Letterpress Plate and I embossed the Pillow Box with it, something my Big Shot Club will be learning how to do at our meeting on Thursday….. (a new little MacIver), that I will share with you soon.

so here is my finished project

I was kind of messing around with a couple of new color combo's too, this one is Island Indigo and Soft Suede, I'm liking it – what do you think?

I also used a couple of stamps from Tiny Tags, and the matching punch, and the postage circle is from French Foliage. The center Butterfly or moth, is colored a second time and cut out, attached with a dimensional, then I coated it with Crystal Effects. I just really enjoyed playing with this today, and I'm thinking, if I ever finish the tutorial I'm working on, there might be a new set ….hmmmm…added to the to do list.

Speaking of the To Do List, it got a little shorter on Sunday because my hubby helped me finish a project.

Lots of room to work, it' s a great height, and check out all the shelves, with a little room for future purchases, tee hee…and have a good look, because it's seldom this tidy, tee hee….Now I have to build more samples to display there….my studio always looks a little bare right after a new catalog because I take down everything that has a retired stamp set or retired designer paper, but I'm busy making new samples, so come back soon and visit won't you.

You asked for it – so here it is. The SINKING GOLD technique I was playing with in September AND – as I was inundated with requests for the Slanted Box – resized to house 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 sized cards (A-2) I’ve included it also.

I have a fondness for the French Foliage Stamp set which I have used and you will note that for the most part, I kept the cards quite simple as I wanted the “ART” of the Technique to catch the eye. The colors are light and cheerful and could be used for many occasions all year long.

Good morning Stampers, happy Monday to you. Fun weekend around here, did lots of yard work out in the sunshine, the dogs loved that, started my blog tour projects, I loved that, and I finished the "item" I'm sharing with you tomorrow for my "COUNT DOWN to the CHRISTMAS" weekly share.

Ok, I have a little share for you today, and a warning. It's BRIGHT. I'm working with Very Vanilla for the blog tour, and I think I was missing color when I stopped and created this card, LOL.

see what I mean, tee hee…

and this caused it, it's an add in a flyer for dishes

Card base is 5-1/4 x 10-1/2 Cherry Cobbler, score and fold at 5-1/4

Mat is 5 x 5 – Old Olive

Turquoise piece is 4-3/4 square

this Daffodile Delight piece is 3-3/4, it will lay on top of a 4 x 4 mat of Cherry Cobbler.

I stamped the leaves with Cherry Cobbler and Old Olive

I gold embossed this leaf on a piece of Cherry Cobbler, 2 x 2 square

matted to 2-1/4 square of Old Olive

I also sponged all my mats to add some depth to them

I used the "writing" stamp in the set, and Early Espresso ink to overstamp on the leaf, and also on the Daffodile, leaf stamped piece.

I used my Mat Stack and Piercing tool to add some interest around the outside of my background.

I used the "thin" tip of my Basic Black Stampin Write Marker to add some "stitches"

I taped down all my layers, then I added the "spill" or "dropplet" stamp to grung up my background a little.

by doing it this way, it looks like it did "splash" all over my piece, tee hee…

Good day Stampers. I wanted to say a special thank you to all my online customers for your orders during this special Clearance Rack week. I thank you so much for choosing me as your demonstrator, and for your patience through the clogged up website. Stampin Up has tweeked it and it is running much smoother ( and faster), so if you did get frustrated with it at the beginning of the week, it is working well now. Lori and I gave it a little test run yesterday, LOL…..man, there is a TON of stuff on sale in there…we got her the Watercolor Crayons for $7.99 can you STAND IT.?..

As promised I'm sharing pics of the other two cards from our watercolor classes this week. Yesterday I made a new stamping friend, Lori. She did an amazing job on her cards and we had some good laughs., HI Lori.

For this one we used the stamp set FAST AND FABULOUS (pg 13), it is a Hostess Level two, so you need to earn it by having a Party or Online order of $300.00 or more – and I can help you with that, LOL…

In the background you will see that we also used the writing and the postage stamp from the FRENCH FOLIAGE stamp set available in the Holiday Mini (page 14) #120845 w #121166 c. The Sentiment came from TEENY TINY WISHES (pg 157) #115370 and there is a little "florish" stamped behind that which came from the stamp set TINY TAGS (pg 130) #118091 w #118592 C

The Background is Gold Embossed and the stamp is the EN FRANCAIS background stamp found on (pg 142) #109521. We used some ribbon and a few punches, painted these flowers with the Pear Pizzazz and Concord Crush reinkers, to match the cardstock used.

and last but certainly not least, the stamp set STUDIO SKETCHES was used here for the main image,

and we used the CHARMING STAMP SET (pg 130) #116519 for the background interest, the TINY TAGS for the little sentiments on the ribbon, the VINTAGE WALLPAPER embossing folder (pg 214) #120175 on the background, along with Antique Brads and Metalic Brads found on page 187.

FRENCH FOLIAGE.

It's on page 14 of the 2010/2011 HOLIDAY MINI CATALOG and the artistic design of it really caught my eye.
