Hi Stampers.  I finally got my card finished.  I'm playing with THE OPEN SEA STAMP SET from the new Stampin UP  Summer Mini Catalog and I decided to Steampunk it!.  Now Google Image that and see what you get, haha….

We are also working on video's for the Breast Cancer event and the kits, AND, my event in Sequim which is also the next tutorial! – Yep, Paper flying everywhere, tee hee….Lori my Kitting Supervisor has been very hard at work so it's nice to have company in the studio while I work too.

The Open Sea Steampunk

So here is my card and let me show you a few things I did.

cut my card and mats, here is the NAUTICAL EXPEDITION DESIGNER PAPER, I'm sponging the edges with Soft Suede ink.

  • Card Base – Early Expresso, 5-1/2 x 8-1/2, score and fold at 4-1/4
  • mat 4 x 5-1/4 – Crumb Cake
  • Mat 3-3/4 x 5 – Bravo Burgandy
  • DSP – 3-5/8 x 4-7/8 – Nautical Expedition DSP

IMG_2270I GOLD EMBOSSED the compass on Very Vanilla, then sponged it.

Did the same thing with the anchor, and then I fussy cut it out, had to use the HOBBY BLADE and my Mat Pack for in between the rope!

A new MacIver – I use a spoon in my studio- for many things!, I accidentially bumped the side of my card with it, and it made this divit – I LIKED IT – so I did it all the way around.

  • Art piece  2 x 3 Very Vanilla
  • Mat 2-1/8 x 3-1/8 – Bravo Burgandy

IMG_2274

I used my Piercing Tool and the Mat Stack to make the holes for my brads

IMG_2275

I GOLD EMBOSSED my COGS, after I punched them out of Early Expresso card stock

IMG_2278I placed a small spinner on top of my Compass (non S.U.), I also used my VERSAMARK PEN, to add Gold Embossing Powder around the edge of the Compass

  • 1-1/4 inch Circle punch for compass
  • 1-3/8 inch Circle Punch for Mat.

And if you can believe it, my order didn't come yesterday, so at 8 last night, I decided to use the twine we use in the kitchen.  I inked it a little with the Soft Suede too so it wasn't so "bright"

I also used the Frame, Oval Scallop Die to cut the dark piece of Designer Paper behind the Ship, which is also stamped in Soft Suede and sponged in the same colors.
