Hello stamping friends. Thursday was Earth Day and I did a little playing, but Friday was 10 minute or less challenge, so I had to wait till today to show you what I was playing with.
Now, this is not my original idea, I saw it in a magazine last month, I think Papercrafts, but I'm not positive. It was a stamping magazine, and you know there are only one or two of those around here, tee-hee….don't open that cupboard door!.
Ok, here is the finished product – Remember EARTH DAY –
Cards made from recyled items.
Layout is Crazy 4 Challenges
Like, recycle Stampin Up Shipping Boxes! I was breaking down boxes on Thursday for garbage and recycle pick up, and I remembered I had seen this done on a card. The light came on, and in I went, with my "garbage" in hand.
I made a template 4 x 5-1/4 from a scrap of card stock, used my box cutter to cut it out on my cutting mat, then I peeled back some of the paper (bottom left)…I sponged some Soft Suede ink on it, and created the cards.
I have a box of "embellishments". Science projects, extra flowers, extra die cuts…..so I was only allowed to use those, nothing NEW>
Only allowed to use card stock from the "scrap bin". As you can see, we could make cards for a year out of this puppy!…yes, I keep my small pieces :0)
and yes we have a box of small ribbon pieces…..Ok, I know, I'm thrifty, at least it is all neatly sorted into boxes, do I get points for that? LOL.
this was the first card I created. The art piece is 2.5 x 3.5, whisper White, mounted to a Basic Black piece 2 -3/4 x 3-3/4. Flowers are die cut from flowers Layers w/Leaf, (page 199), butterfly, well, he is very well represented on one of my Blog Tour projects – (Nope – I still can't show you)., and I had a few left overs. He is in the new Summer Mini Catalog, very last page, 31, single stamp…..I love him!.
The black center on the flower, is a Kraft colored corduroy button, dyed black with my ink pad. and a couple of strips of left over 1-1/4 inch striped Grosgrain Ribbon.
of course, the images are WATERCOLOR TRIO – summer mini catalog, page 16. stamped in Tempting Turquoise and Old Olive.
And here is the second card. Background DSP is left over pieces of Razzleberry Lemonade, mounted to old olive. and we all know where the "painted flower" came from right?
I had fun recycling and taking care of the earth on Thursday, come on back tomorrow, I did make another one, again all from my "left over stash & trash"

OMG… You, my friend, are in serious trouble! But kill you I won’t ’cause I still need to get you to Texas for a class! I save my scraps too, only in a baggie or a sheet protector, not a box. (You should see the SIZE of some of my scraps. Tee Hee. I even save the little ribbon pieces I cut off when I trim the ends for a bow. So, I guess I will give you points for the box. Wait…is it a RECYCLED box? No points if it is brand new!
Love your Earth Day cards and of course the Watercolor Trio stamp set. I’ll be watching for the one to post tomorrow!
Morning Sandi, WOWED again by such creativity! I love the recycled SU boxes! What a neat idea. Your watercolor cards are beautiful. This one and the Elements of Style are top on my list – and the new Presto dsp paper!
Hope you have a nice relaxing weekend. I am sipping coffee and enjoying listening to the loons. We finally have some rain this morning and I think all the outside critters are celebrating!
p.s. Meant to comment on your scrap bins – they look just about like mine! LOL Isn’t it nice when you get these scrap challenges?! Like you – I could probably make cards for a very long time with just my scrap boxes. I have one for plain card stock and one for dsp papers and excess ribbons I donate to a friend who uses them in her grade school classroom.
I have a stamping friend who had made a very organized file system for all of her scraps! They are organized by color for the card stock and by dsp name for the fancy papers. That is WAY over the top for me. I am just now finally getting my stamping index put together!
Love your recycled cards!! They are great! Thanks for sharing!
What a neat idea! And, of course, you turned “trash” into “TREASURE”!! Great job of recycling!
YOU are SO TALENTED !! I just LOVE your work !!
These are so lovely and creative! I may have to case them
I love these cards. Now I have a new excuse for ordering the SU! The cardboard! :0)

Just gorgeous! I have the set but have yet to play! May have to do so tonight!
Hello Sandi!
Your cards are absolutely fantastic. What a neat challenge.
BTW, I received my AWESOME card in the mail yesterday. I can’t wait to give it to my Mom. Thanks again a million times for this generous gift!
Stephanie
Thanks for helping to save my home Earth. Roscoe wants to know what you did with the rest of the box. He loves to carry the SU boxes around the house. He puts it in his mouth and has them pointing up so they cover his face. I didn’t say he was the smartest thing. I love your cards and your way of using the boxes. Your way you used the ribbons bits is beautiful. You inspire me. Your ribbon box is so pretty. I save the ends of bows too in a jar on my stamping table, even the teeny tiny ones. It looks so pretty with all the colors. It also makes great cushioning when mailing things to your sister so she has to wade through that and lots of paper (tee hee) to find her stuff. I am such a trouble maker. You have a great weekend with your family.

As usual great cards Sandi and Green too! Love the look of the SU box behind this set.
What a wonderful idea for using recyclables! As a recycler, myself, I really appreciate these cards. I used zebra striped tissue paper from a gift to make a birthday card for my daughter-in-law. She loved it!
Thank you for using “Green Material” I should do it more often. Thanks for the “Hot Tip” It is a beautiful card. Love the way it all came together. Have a great weekend.
What a beautiful card for some very deserving indivudual. You go girl! I like how you used the corregated cardboard in the background. Great way to recycle.
Hi Sandi, Love your Watercolor Cards! I wasn’t too sure I like this Stamp Set when I first saw it, but you have proved me wrong. I have to have it now. Your cards are just beautiful, and I love the colors that you chose for each one. They are both unique in thier own way. You gave some great tips. Thanks for sharing.
Cyber hugs, Trish in Wisconsin
Okay…. did I miss the big SU announcement. I noted it on an email from your blog that said you would be doing it the next day, but now on the blog, I haven’t run across the announcement…. I’m sure it will be in my in box if I’ve missed it here… MAN, I so love that individual butterfly stamp and this one in the blue colors is amazing… AND I have to do a recycled ATC and I just pulled a bunch of the same corrugated paper to use on a different project, but know now that it is going to be my ATC background… WHOO HOO!!! Thanks for the inspiration! BTW, the corragated paper makes a great texture to stamp with if you ink or paint on the cardboard and then stamp with the cardboard. We did that at our art retreat in Florida a week ago.. OH that was SO much fun! Later, Marita
Oooooh, I love the shabby chic-ness of these cards!
